Topical anesthetics used are effective upto the depth of ?
A. 0.5-1.0 mm
B. 1.0-2.0 mm
C. 2.0-3.0 mm
D. 3.0-3.5 mm

As a rule, topical anesthesia is effective only on surface tissues (2 to 3 mrn). Tissues deep to area of application are poorly anesthetized. However, surface anesthesia does allow for atraurnatlc needle penetration of the mucous membrane.
