In spite of taking all due
precautions to prevent the errors just described, small occlusal inaccuracies
invariably occur. It has been shown that a processed denture exhibits an
average increase in height of 0.5 mm and a shift in tooth contact towards the
posterior region. These errors can be corrected in the laboratory if a
split-cast mounting technique is used. There is evidence that if complete
dentures are processed by injection-molding rather than the more common
compression-molding technique there is significantly less incisal pin opening
and generally fewer occlusal inaccuracies.
