Sublingual salivary gland: • It is the smallest of the
three major salivary glands • It is “Almond shaped” • It
weighs about 3-4 g
• Lies above the Mylohyoid, below the mucosa of the floor
of the mouth, medial to the sublingual fossa of the mandible & lateral to
the Geniohyoid.
• About 15 ducts emerge from the gland. Most of them emerge
open directly in to the floor of the mouth on the summit of the sublingual
fold.
